Fraud Alerts for Debit & Credit Cards
Data breaches are all too common these days and Hackers are making headlines by stealing your credit and debit card information. Keys Federal Credit Union takes these threats seriously. That’s why we’re beefing up our security with a bigger, better fraud prevention system. We’ve strengthened our defenses with a new, automated system that can identify threats faster, notify you sooner and equip you with the tools you need to take immediate action against fraud. Our new system uses automated calls, texts and emails that stop fraud in its tracks!
Our new automated system includes:
Immediate Alerts: When suspicious activity is detected on your account, our automated system contacts you by text, phone, or email.
2-Way Communication: You can take action the second you receive an alert.
Step 1 - Contact via Text: text the provided command word and follow the instructions to answer questions regarding your recent card activity.
Step 2 - Contact via Phone: follow the instructions in the automated system to answer questions regarding your recent card activity.
Real-time Support: Our live agents are ready to ensure you receive the best defense exactly when you need it.
How does the automated system work?
Registration is NOT required. You are automatically registered in Automated Fraud Alerts.
First, a text alert is sent regarding suspected fraudulent activity.
If the text message is not answered within 30 minutes, a digital call is made to the mobile phone and a message is left if not answered.
Next, an automated call with a pre-recorded, interactive message will notify you of potentially suspicious activity on your account. It will tell you the last four digits of your account and up to five transactions performed on your account. We will never ask you for your entire account number.
Upon confirmation that the card activity is valid, your card will be immediately unblocked.
Upon confirmation that the card activity is fraudulent, the system will disable the affected card and a live Fraud Detection Services agent will help you complete the lost/stolen report.
If you do not respond to the mobile phone message within 30 minutes, a digital call is made to the home phone and a message is left if not answered.
If you do not respond to the home message within 3 hours or 180 minutes, a digital call is made to the home phone again; however another message is not left unless the previous message attempt was unsuccessful.
Last, if there is no response to our previous contact attempts, an Email is sent 5 minutes after the final call asking you to call our Fraud Alert Center at 1-888-918-7313.
